- Marangu Route: This is the only route with hut accommodation and takes 5 to 6 days to complete. It is the most popular route but can be quite busy. Note that you ascend and descend via the same path.
- Machame Route: Known for its scenic beauty, it takes 6 to 7 days to complete. It has a good success rate and offers varied landscapes.
- Lemosho Route: Also very scenic, this route takes 7 to 8 days. It has a high success rate and provides a diverse trekking experience.
- Rongai Route: This route starts from the north side of the mountain and takes 6 to 7 days. It is less crowded and offers a different perspective of the mountain.
- Londross Route: Known for its remote and rugged terrain, it takes 7 to 8 days.
- Umbwe Route: This is the most challenging route and takes 5 to 6 days. It is less frequented and is suitable for experienced climbers.
Additionally, there’s a descent-only route known as the Mweka route.
